Generating a Feeling of Success

Why do I keep a promise to myselfHave you made goals in the past and found that you got disillusioned because you just could not keep them?
Yes, I know, some people say ‘dream big’ or ‘reach for the stars’. This may work for some people.

We are all different and for those who may not fit into the above category it may work better to start with easy and small achievable adjustments.
When we experience success, no matter how small, we can build on it.
Keeping a promise to ourselves results in feeling that we ‘can do it’ and makes us want to do more.
We then feel more successful because of the sense of achievement!

Areas of Adjustments could be:

  • Eating a healthy diet
  • Exercising
  • Writing x-amount of posts a week
  • Weeding the garden
  • Answering emails
  • etc.

Start with an easy and small promise for just Seven Days

When we want to make changes in our lives we can build the feeling of success by doing something that is easy for us just for 7 days to start with.
We can then keep extending it to another 7 days and so on.

Suggestions for implementing Adjustments

  • Write down the things you want to adjust.
  • Then write the items into colums (on paper or in a spreadsheet) starting with the easiest to the more difficult.
  • Start with one item. (The one you believe you can keep your promise)
  • Decide when you want to do the activity.
  • When you have done it tick it off (or give yourself a star Y{Insert-Symbols-Wingdings 2:234})

You can do any of the other items too, but only if you feel good doing so.

Keeping a promise to ourselves can inspire us to do more.

For the Support from our Subconscious we can ask the following questions:

Why do I find something that I can do that I am proud of myself doing for the next 7 days?
Why do I keep my word to myself?
Why do I find something that I believe that I can keep my word to myself?
What promise can I easily keep to myself?
What could I do easily do every day for 7 days that I am proud of myself having kept my promise to myself?
What would represent keeping my word to myself?
Why does keeping my promise to myself lead to being inspired to make more promises to myself?
Why do I feel good about myself keeping my promises and add it to my column?
Why am I more in alignment with myself when I feel good about keeping my promises?

When we ask questions like these we activate our intenal search-engine to find the answers.

This post was inspired by a video in which a woman asks Abraham-Hicks how she can make peace with her body:

The process mentioned in this video was adjusted from the ‘How to clear debt process’ which is in the book ‘Ask and it is Given: Learning to Manifest your Desire(affiliate link) by Esther and Jerry Hicks. This is also available in the format of CD, cards, calendar and DVD.

When I started to write this post, my intention was to just do fifteen minutes at a time, but I got so absorbed that I did a lot more and even finished it, yay!

In WordPress the star Y is a capital Y in Wingdings if you have the TinyMCE advanced plugin.

Looking for Positive AspectsWe always have a choice of where we put our attention

When we observe someone or something we can focus on the positive side or the things we could criticize.

What feels better?

We an focus on the positive aspects as follows:

Write for 20 minutes things that you like about someone or something. Start with something that is easy to find good feelings, thoughts about.

As you find good feeling thoughts (positive aspects) about someone or something it will get easier to find more good feeling thoughts, since they attract/give you access to more of the same.

And then the better it gets the better it gets.

As we focus on positive aspects we feel better and our vibration raises, which then attracts more thoughts, people and experiences that feel better too.

Writing down the positive aspects is very powerful since we focus more on it than just thinking.

When we write we are:

  • thinking
  • writing
  • seeing
  • reading
  • thinking

  • you feel good when you do it
  • your point of attraction will improve
  • the relationship with the people you write about will be more enjoyable
  • more and more wonderful people and experiences will come into your life

Doing it regularly is like exercising, the muscle we exercise gets stronger;

- our positive thoughts and good feelings and vibration get stronger and it gets easier and easier to do.

We also can do this exercise when we find ourselves having a challenging situation with someone or something, before or after or both the situation.

If it is really challenging we may need to write our list a lot of times.

The way we feel about it will tell us whether there is more ‘work’ to be done or not.

There is a process called “The Book of Positive Aspects” which is in the book “Ask and it is Given” by E. & J Hicks.

Inspiration at the BeachInspiration makes Work Fun

When Action comes from inspiration:

  • It is something you look forward to
  • It is enjoyable
  • It flows
  • It is action/work that you want to get out of bed for, even if it is early or cold and maybe even if it is a Sunday
  • Ideas flow easily
  • Challenges are no big deal, you keep going until you figured it out

How do you get to inspired action?

Here are the steps:

  1. Getting clear on why you want what you want.
  2. Exploring what limiting beliefs/thoughts are blocking you.
  3. Finding a new perspective
  4. Defining a goal
  5. Breaking it down into a manageable action plan
  6. Being accountable

Step 1 means asking ‘why‘ again and again until you get to how you would like to feel when you accomplished what you want to do.

A hint here is: it is important that it feels good.

Explore the levels of your ‘why’.

Maybe you can do this by yourself. Writing it down can help. Focus on it for a while, maybe more than once. It may help to talk to someone about this who will give you their undivided attention and possibly ask you some questions to explore your ‘why’ further.

Coaching sessions helped me with that, and I really appreciated having someone (a coach) help me explore by actively listening and also asking me related questions.

Step 2 can be more tricky, since those limiting beliefs sometimes slip past you like a ninja in the night.

Even if you have an idea what your limiting belief (a thought that you keep thinking) may be, but how do you get more clarity?

From personal experience I can say that exploring this in a coaching session can help tremendously and also speed up the process. For me it supported me in exploring what the limiting belief was by:

  • Having the space to talk about it
  • Being listened to, really listened to
  • Feeling heard and understood
  • Feeling accepted (no judgement)
  • Questions which helped clarify it further and explore it more

One of my experiences in which coaching sessions helped me:

I used to like being anonymous. I wrote a few posts on some blogs which stayed under the radar and I liked it that way.

I was scared to be out there, being seen, being noticed, to stand up and being counted. So I preferred to ‘lye low’. (Spelling mistake intentionally)

For years personal growth and self development had been number one on my list.

Counselling and Rebirthing and working with Positive Attitudes were tools which helped me to clear a lot of issues.

It was sort of like peeling an onion.

Sometimes I felt like I was going in circles.I am glad I that learned that it actually is a spiral.

This spiral is not only going towards the centre (my true inner being) it is also gaining momentum and it is getting easier.

Most people have a ’story’ to tell.

The reason to tell my story is to give an example of exploring where my limiting belief came from.

My father had a kidney removed in the Second World War and since he was afraid for his heath he left Switzerland and went to Germany. This made him a ‘deserter’ so he was ‘illegal’ in Germany and did odd jobs. He met my mother, I was created and then, because of my parents circumstances, was fostered out 4 times between age 0 and 7 (having contact with my parents in those years). When I was seven my well meaning parents finally had a flat and I lived with them. My father was still illegal until I was 10 years old. That was when my parents got married.

Until I talked about ‘lying low’ in the coaching session I had not connected my fear of ‘being seen’ with the situation with my father.

It was similar to the fear I felt every time I heard a certain fire siren, like the ones we used to have in Germany and I would look into the sky looking for the bomber airplanes to come. I couldn’t quite understand that, since I was born a few years after the war, until I learned that I must have taken on my mother’s fear (she had been bombed out in Berlin).

Step 3: Being able to talk about this in a coaching session helped me

  • to get this new understanding
  • to find a new way of thinking

I realized that these fear which caused me to want to ‘lye low’ was a pretty ‘low lie’ in the life I am living now.

Getting things into perspective puts the power back to where it belongs, into the here and now, within the control of our thoughts we choose from now on.

The steps after that for me where easy since I already had them I just needed to clear the limiting belief I had. Within approx. 3 weeks I got my own domain name and created this website. Sure there is still a lot more I want to do on this website, but now I am like a dog with a bone, grrrrrrrreat.

I also love seeing the positive changes and ‘aha’ moments in people I have coached.

Choosing our thoughts deliberatelyWe consciously create, when we choose a thought and focus on that thought long enough so it creates a feeling, which when felt long enough equals a vibration.

The Law of Attraction responds to our vibration and then manifests it.

When we are not aware of our thoughts and feelings and just ‘automatically’ – by default – think and therefore feel, then the Law of Attraction responds to that and we get results which we didn’t consciously intent.

Some of these results may not be that pleasant, because our most practised thoughts and feelings may have been about things we did not want.

When one of those experiences has manifested we have the unwanted experiences as well as the thoughts and feelings that led up to it to deal with.

That would take a lot more effort than creating consciously in the first place.

So it does make sense to be aware of the thoughts we choose, the feelings we feel and/or the feelings we feel and then consciously choose thoughts which feel better.

It doesn’t really matter which comes first, what matters is how do we want to feel?

So deliberately choosing our thoughts and therefore creating our feeling leads to consciously creating.

Create awareness.

Beach with Coromandel in the distanceIn this busy lifestyle of modern civilisation a lot of people don’t seem to find the time
to take time out for their well being and to restore positivity.
We are always doing the best we can at any given time.
We don’t get up in the morning and say “I am going to be deliberately lazy today and sabotage myself.”

If we are feeling a lack of energy it is usually a sign that we need to take care of ourselves and re-align.
Even if it means doing nothing.

Elizabeth Gilbert, Author of “Eat, Pray and Love” found out about the ‘art of doing nothing’ from Italians.
Apparently they practice that art on a daily basis (i.e. go home for lunch and make love).

An Article about ‘The Art of doing Nothing has some great tips.

We all need time out to recharge our batteries and not just at night when we are sleeping.

How many people allow themselves to have that time out?

There is the ‘too busy’, ‘got to get things done’, etc. Attitude,
which keeps most of us slugging away at it.

Why? Because we are afraid that if we don’t, things will fall apart.
A lot of times it is the people who fall apart, they get sick, have accidents, divorces, heart attacks etc.

Trusting the process is usually not something we learn at school.

Yet, if we would trust the process and listen to our bodies, our energy levels and
take the time out at the first inkling, our even better on a daily basis, we would function so much better.

Even if it is only 10 to 15 minutes.
It is all unfolding perfectly.

Try it now with this very relaxing video taking you into nature(by jankovarik).

I like Wellness Days.
I used to let my kids stay home for Wellness days, rather than have them home sick.
Amy Wong wrote an post on Wellness days

Here is a quote I got in my email:
“Some things you’re not letting happen right now because the timing isn’t perfect for you. Some you’re not letting happen because you are very aware of where you are. But all things, as they are happening, are happening in perfect order. And if you will relax and begin saying, “Everything in its perfect time. Everything is unfolding. And I’m enjoying where I am now, in relationship to where I’m going. Content where I am, and eager for more,” that is the perfect vibrational stance. “Abraham-Hicks

It is all unfolding perfectly.

What is your way of taking time out?
How do you look after your well being?
What do you do to restore your positivity?

Our Feelings are our Point of Attraction

Orewa BeachHave you ever noticed that when you really feel alone and sorry for yourself and try to get hold of someone on the phone no one is home or seem available?

Or, when you feel good and are out and about people seem to smile :-D at you more often than when you feel down?

Maybe you can think of other examples like this.

So, if our feelings cause what we attract (and I believe they do), wouldn’t it be good if we would be aware of how we feel?

As I am writing this I noticed that it just started to rain. I also noticed my feeling ‘dropping a notch’. Then I reminded myself that it is only temporary and I am home, dry and comfortable right now. I could have entertained other thoughts that would have ‘made me feel worse’.

My thoughts were really the cause of how I was feeling and it was completely up to me which thoughts I would choose.

First we feel something and that can either go under the radar, unnoticed and kind of fester away, subconsciously, or we can be aware of it and feel a victim of that feeling or we can choose to think better feeling thoughts.

Does that sound too simple?

At first it did to me. I felt a victim of my feelings for many years, powerless. I felt abandoned, unwanted, unloved, not cared for, in the way, not good enough, depressed, scared and powerless. Any bad emotion was just recycling through my system like a free radical causing havoc. I had years of counseling and read heaps of self help books and did lots of course to help myself.

It did help, but nothing helped as much as using this simple technique of being aware of how I feel and reaching for the best feeling thought I could find.

It didn’t happen overnight, but it did happen. Well it actually did happen as soon as I found a better feeling thought – I felt better.

The outward manifestation may take a little longer.

Does that mean I am responsible for my past?

For me the answer is yes, subconsciously I create my experiences.

NOW we can consciously create our experiences.

If we would have had parents who knew this, they could have taught us how to do this, instead of passing on the ‘old style’ of conditioning which does not empower us. Most of our parents didn’t know this and did the best they could with what they knew.

We have an abundance of choices of experience to choose from. Any experience gives us clarity of what we want.

We are powerful. Look at what you have created so far.

Back to feelings:

We can feel better and better by persistently choosing thoughts that feel better.

So then

  • when we feel better
  • we attract better experiences and
  • we feel even better and
  • it gets easier to choose better feeling thoughts,
  • which cause us to feel even better and ……..

It works the other way too. When we feel not so good…..well let’s not go there.

We affect people and circumstances with our thinking/feeling.

Just imagine what life would be like if we would continuously choose better feeling thoughts and feel better.

If everyone did this we truly would have paradise.

We can start now creating our own feeling good experiences.

Cloudy Manly beachThe Movie “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne spread like wild Fire. In this movie many authors from different fields talk about they understand and have used/and use the secret and the Law of Attraction. Some of these authors are Bob Proctor, Jack Canfield, Dr Denis Waitley, Dr. John Demartini and Dr. Joe Vitale.

The wisdom of ‘the secret’ has been around. Charles Haanel (1866 -1949) wrote: “The vibration of mental forces are the finest and consequently the most powerful in existence.”

Each author appearing in the movie has their personal style and may appeal to different people at different times.

Some words may resonate with us, or even say something we may have heard in the past, but maybe this time it clicks.

Sometimes the most simplest message may be the hardest to understand.

One of those may be: ‘Ask and it is given’ as the Teachings of Abraham written about in several books by Esther and Jerry Hicks put it : “get clear on what you want and give your undivided attention to that” or “tell it like you want it to be”.

Just like the groove of our ‘unconscious thinking’ was created through repetition, we can create a new groove through repetition. Maybe we read several books saying the ‘same’ thing with different words.

Just like we are encouraged to be mindful about what we feed our body, we could be benefiting from being aware of what we feed or mind. After all, or more to the point, before all, it is mind over matter.

Does that mean if you don’t mind it doesn’t matter? .. ? .. ?

What is the Secret? If you live a life you love, does it matter?

If you want to create the life you want to live, how can you shift gear?

Here is another book which also has a Mind programming CD included, which incorporates a lot of what other books write about in a very simple way. It is designed in a way that you can make small changes every day, which add up to bigger changes:

Change your Life in 7 Days” by Paul McKenna

In this book you find easy daily exercises which include visualisations, building a positive self image, reframing perspectives, goal setting and a chapter on creating money.

Even if you would just listen to the free CD regularly you could benefit immensely.

InspirationHow to be Motivated and Inspired and

‘Get on with it’

Inspired Action

Inspired Action is one step towards being motivated.

When you want to do something especially if it is work/career or success orientated

it is a good idea to do some soul searching about:

Why do you want to do it?

Ok, there is the money/cash flow side. That is one of those surface reasons.

Ask yourself again:

“Why is it that you want to do this?”

“How do you hope to feel when you have done it?”

Don’t stop there. With each answer ask why again.

Why keep asking ? Isn’t money, earning a living enough of a reason?

Your reason might be financial security.

Great you want to feel more secure. Why? What would that mean to you?

How would you feel if you felt financially secure?

Would you feel good?

Why would you feel good?

The reason for digging deeper is that when we get clearer on our why, and all the facets, then

we are much more likely to feel motivated – inspired – into action.

This is especially important if we are our own boss or time keeper.

Why Do You Want More

Freedom Abundance Well Being and Time?

The Answer to that question may vary from person to person.

Maybe you haven’t really thought about it?

Or you may sort of know but it is more gray instead of black and white?

Hopefully you will get clearer as you read explore that question.

When we know why we want something and

focus on why we want it

then it is more likely to happen.

What does Freedom mean to you?

Here are some options:

  • Being yourself
  • Doing what you want

Have you ever started something new that felt reallypromising in regards to getting you were you want to go; like creating more income and then a few days later or some time down the track

¨ you couldn’t be bothered,

¨ found excuses why not do it,

¨ found other more ‘important’ things to do?

Well the good news is almost everyone has been there, you are not alone?

Phew, that’s a relief! That’s how I felt when I found out I wasn’t weird.

So, a good place to start is to look at is:

Why did we start in the first place?

When we focus on why we want something, we are allowing the Law of Attraction to manifest our desire.

The answers to why for me were/are:

  • I want to feel good
  • I want to improve my circumstance
  • I want the freedom to do what I want when I want
  • I want to make a contribution
  • I want to be of service to others

What are your Whys?

Now that we reminded ourselves why we started this, how about imagining what it would feel like if we achieved those feelings.

Of course one could use the deadline, time pressure, crack the whip attitude. That seemed to work for me if it was one ‘imposed’ on me. Setting my own deadlines doesn’t seem to work that well, it may do for you.

How about pretending you are playing a game, like the SIMS and you are the main character. That would add some fun to what may seem like work?

If you like to write a journal, which is my favorite, you could write a story about how you would like the project to play out.

Focusing on the positive aspects of the ‘work’/’project’ is another good way to feel better about it and increase the level of motivation towards persevering.

Have you scheduled days off? A break can bring in new enthusiasm.

Does your work allow variety, so you could alternate what you are doing?

Could you see your ‘work’ as enjoyable or even fun, loving what you do and doing what you love?

Wouldn’t it be nice if you could create more abundance, success and well being and have fun at the same time.

Another way may be to say: “I am going to have a play with…..” instead of “I am going to work on..”
